Addicted to Social Science

Students of social-focused class had an overnight stay at
school in May 2018 for the sake of unity among the stu-
dents. Students had the opportunity to empathize and com-
municate with each other and became closer. These oppor-
tunities are not common in any class.

Our students often take special classes in the evening self-
study time. Teachers of Social science specialized classes
invite the outside lecturers to help students get as much ac-
cess to their dreams as possible. In 2018, many people vis-
ited our school for Social science classes, including Hyeeun
Shin, chief editor of the travel magazine <Take Off>, who
had worked as a flight attendant in the Emirates, and Ha-un

Kim, who had taught ‘Practical Economy’ at Songdo High
class’? In Songdo High School, there are 2 Social science
School. Also, senior students from our school visited for
specialized classes for 1st, 3rd graders respectively, and 4
lecture. One of them is a lawyer for the law firm ‘Gwang-
classes for 2nd graders. In Social science specialized class,
jang’, and the other is working at KBS.
students learn more about social studies, especially eco-
nomics, than general curriculum. There is nothing special
about school grading system because first-year students
take the same subject and take the same exam regardless of
their specialty. So, in social-focused classes, students often
use the off hours flexibly to do career-related activities.

First, Practical Economy course is an specialty of social
class. Students can get a detailed picture of society and the
economy that they does not normally learn. The discussion
time of this class helps them understand about the economy
and society. Students may come to a conclusion by debat-
ing with each other. Until September 2018, Mr. Ha-un Kim,
former head of Incheon headquarters, Bank of Korea, came
to our school to give lesson. He had worked as a professor
at Inha University, and he is the president of ‘Ham In Sa’.
On November 24-25, first-year social-focused students
will go to the academic research camps with their teachers.
Students will explore the social topics that they are inter-
ested in and learn how to write their papers with invited
postgraduate students.

In fact, there are many other classes at Songdo High
School, too. But it is not easy to have special experiences
such as camping in school, or going to the academic re-
search camps. So, if you are interested in economics and
social studies, why don’t you come to our Songdo High
School’s Social science specialized class? You can take a
step forward in preparing for your dream.
